Project Symbiosis nominated for the prestigious UN award

The nomination by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs symbolizes an additional confirmation of the contribution of solidarity and cooperation that Symbiosis has spread across the whole of Slovenia in recent years.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has proposed the project Symbiosis (Simbioza) to be awarded the prestigious UN award - UN Population Award 2014. The nomination symbolizes an additional confirmation of the contribution of solidarity and cooperation that Symbiosis has spread across the whole of Slovenia in recent years.

The award, which has been awarded since 1981, is given to projects each year, that deal in the most innovative and effective way with one of the greatest challenges of modern time -  demographic dynamics. With encouraging life-long learning by aiding elderly people to become computer literate, setting up dialogue between generations and including older people socially, the Symbiosis project is indubitably contributing to mutual connectedness. It has namely reached the whole of Slovenia and its reputation has spread across the borders.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by realising intergenerational cooperation and transfer of knowledge in practice, Symbiosis denotes an outstanding example of best practices through which Slovenia is strengthening its reputation abroad.

In the past, the award went into the hands of the African Research Centre, Asian MPs, and doctors from Uganda and Egypt, politician from Barbados, etc. We wish that this time the Slovene Symbiosis will be the one that will receive international acknowledgment and consequently larger recognition.

Do not forget - intergenerational cooperation should be our present and our future!
